PEORIA, Ill. – With heavy hearts, Tennessee Tech softball walked off the field for the last time on Wednesday. Despite a tough battle with No. 6 Southern Indiana, the No. 7-seeded Golden Eagles endured. Neither team had the upper hand – that was until the sixth inning.

That’s the order of the day as Tennessee Tech gets set to take on Southern Indiana on Wednesday morning at 10 AM in the opening game of the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championships at Peoria’s Louisville Slugger Sports Complex. PEORIA, Ill. – The Tennessee Tech softball team opened its day in Peoria with some hardware as the Golden Eagles picked up four All-Ohio Valley Conference honors on Tuesday. Designated player Sofia Carroll earned a first-team spot, while third baseman Jailynn Paderez, second baseman Ashley Capelouto and utility Abbee Klinefelter were all named to the second-team roster.

CAPE GIARDEAU, Mo. – As the Tennessee Tech softball team’s regular-season slate came to a close on Saturday with a 2-0 loss at Southeast Missouri, the Golden Eagles will now shift its focus on a brand new start as the Ohio Valley Conference begins its softball tournament on Wednesday. With the loss, coupled with a 6-1 Southern Indiana win over UT Martin, the Golden Eagles and the Screaming Eagles tied for sixth place in the overall standings. USI earned the tiebreaker by beating Tech twice in three meetings in Cookeville this season, putting the Golden Eagles as the No. 7 seed.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri took advantage of a five-run inning in game one, but the Tennessee Tech softball team held the Redhawks scoreless for eight innings in game two before SEMO walked off the second contest to take both games in Friday’s doubleheader. The Golden Eagles (16-32, 11-15 Ohio Valley Conference) will close out the regular season on Saturday with a final game against the Redhawks. With a win Saturday, Tech will hold on to the No. 6 seed in next week’s OVC Softball Championships in Peoria. If Tech loses and Southern Indiana defeats UT Martin Saturday, the Golden Eagles will slip to seventh, but can not finish any lower.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – It’s down to the final weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play in softball and the Tennessee Tech squad are entering the weekend looking for improving their seeding in next week’s tournament in Peoria, Ill. The Golden Eagles (16-30, 11-13 OVC) take on Southeast Missouri on Friday and Saturday to close out the regular season. As it stands before the series’ first pitch, Tech is sixth in the conference standings, roughly two games behind the Redhawks (17-28, 13-10 OVC) with one fewer game played.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech honored its nine seniors following its games Sunday against UT Martin to close out the 2026 home slate, but two tough outings led to the Skyhawks sweeping the twinbill as UTM rallied with eight runs in the sixth inning of game one to top Tech 10-6, then UTM took game two 7-0. The Golden Eagles (16-31, 11-13 OVC) return to action this weekend as they close out the regular season at Southeast Missouri. Tech falls into sixth place in the OVC standings entering the final week, still within reach of avoiding a first-round elimination game at three games back.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – In between two lightning delays for nearly three-and-a-half hours, the Tennessee Tech softball team battled back and forth with UT Martin on Saturday, but the Skyhawks claimed the lead in the top of the sixth and didn’t relinquish it, taking a 7-5 victory in the series opener. With the delays, Saturday’s scheduled second game now becomes game one of a Senior Day doubleheader on Sunday, starting at noon. Both games will be broadcasted on ESPN+ (subscription required) with Dylan Vazzano on the call. The Senior Day presentation will follow the second game.

Ella Bishop drove in three runs for the Golden Eagles (15-27, 11-10 OVC), while Julie Martin, Sofia Carroll, Ashley Capelouto and Brooklyn Stewart each had two hits.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois strung its bats together at just the right time as the host Panthers collected 22 total hits on Tennessee Tech Saturday to take both ends of the conference doubleheader, beating the Golden Eagles 7-3 in the opener and in a 6-0 shutout in the nightcap. Tech (15-26, 11-9 Ohio Valley Conference) picked up five hits in each game, but was held to three runs on the day as Jailynn Paderez, Ashley Capelouto and Ella Bishop collected the team’s RBI in the double-dip. No player had a multi-hit game in game one, while Abbee Klinefelter went 2-for-3 in game two for the lone multi-hit producer on the day.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Tennessee Tech softball team has been playing much stronger in the Ohio Valley Conference this season, but the Golden Eagles will get tested this weekend as Tech heads north to take on conference leader Eastern Illinois in a three-game set on Saturday and Sunday. Presently, the series is still on the slate as a doubleheader Saturday, starting at noon with a single game Sunday at noon. COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A big fourth inning put Tennessee Tech well on top Tuesday afternoon as the Golden Eagles run-ruled Bellarmine 8-0 in five innings. Makayli Harris led the Golden Eagles as she drove in four runs with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Sofia Carroll and Abbee Klinefelter both went 2-for-3 with two RBI each.
